Dear Community,
On September 30, 2024, the Haliburton Pine Ridge District Health Unit declared Hyland Crest Long Term Care Home to be in an Unknown Respiratory Outbreak. Currently we have six (6) residents on the upper unit with respiratory symptoms. All symptomatic residents have been isolated to their rooms and placed on contact/droplet precautions.
Our Hyland Crest team is working diligently to reduce the spread of this infection. Increased Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is being used by staff to reduce the risk of transmission, and any residents affected by the outbreak are being isolated in their rooms to prevent any further spread of the virus. In addition, laboratory testing is being completed on symptomatic residents, and enhanced cleaning measures have also been put into place. Please note that the family/Power of Attorney (POA) of all residents affected by the outbreak have been contacted by our nursing team.
At this time, non-urgent visiting is on pause at Hyland Crest and essential visitors are asked to follow appropriate IPAC procedures at all times. Please be reminded of the importance of hand hygiene. Washing hands thoroughly and/or leveraging HHHS-supplied hand sanitizer helps stop the spread and keeps us all safe.
As always please don’t hesitate to call the nursing team anytime for an update on your loved one. Upper level 3225, Lower level 3226. Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Tina Amodeo Administrator (x2249) or Katelyn Amodeo ADOC/IPAC Lead (x2275) any time.
A HUGE thank you to the team for all that they do to support our residents, families, and team.
Your professionalism and expertise is second to none, and directly impacts the health and wellbeing of our Community!
Thanks so much,
Jennifer Burns West
