3 Permanent Casual Registered Practical Nurse LTC

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Registered Practical Nurse performs a variety of routine bedside and Resident care nursing duties, which provide assistance to other nursing staff in caring for the total Resident needs in accordance with Home policies and nursing standards.  Observes, charts and reports resident’s vital signs and condition.  Assists with or implements Resident treatments.  Assists Resident in meeting their personal care needs.  Adheres to HHHS Mission, Vision and Values Statement and the Nursing Department Statement of Purpose.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Registration with the relevant provincial licensing body
• One (1) year Long Term Care Experience
• One-Two (1-2) years Clinical Experience
• Supervisory Experience

SKILLS / ABILITIES:

• Planning & organizing work
• Problem solving
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Recording and reporting skills
• Specialty skills (i.e. ABI, IV, Palliative)

In addition, the successful candidate must be available to work day, evening and night shifts, along with weekends and statutory holidays.  An ability to attend work on a consistent basis is also a requirement.
