POSITION DESCRIPTION:

HHHS is currently seeking an experienced RN (Minimum 5 years ED experience) to work as a Team Lead and Clinical Scholar for both the Emergency Department and Acute Care Unit.  Responsible for regulating the flow of resources between ED and Acute Care, the Team Lead and Clinical Scholar will support the following objectives:

  • Coordinates teams and decisions to ensure patient care and safety are maintained as the first priority. Able to orchestrate patient flow, support staff with clinical decisions, proactively engage in difficult conversations, resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner, and exercise judgement in time-sensitive situations.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team culture and builds team morale through constructive attitude and peer support.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the interprofessional team and grows a culture of transparency and justice. Functions as a collaborative team player
  • Facilitates and builds capacity for quality decisions, strong clinical judgement, and critical thinking abilities. Able to maintain composure during high pressure situations.
  • Acts as a resource, mentor and support to new staff and seeks out learning opportunities
  • Provides expert input on the escalation of patient care concerns, SURGE and change management and clinical policy revisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate in good standing with CNO
  • ACLS and CTAS certified; TNCC, PALS and NRP recommended
  • Experience functioning as a team leader/charge nurse, mentor and preceptor preferred
  • Experience with quality improvement, policy and protocol application and risk/safety management preferred
  • Proficient in EPIC, in both ASAP and Clin Docs applications
  • ADU superuser  
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirement of the RN job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis

Shifts and hours may vary and change according to departmental requirements as per the ONA Collective Agreement. The successful candidate must be available to work day, evening and night shifts, along with weekends and statutory holidays.  An ability to attend work on a consistent basis is also a requirement and placement in the attendance management program will be evaluated.
