Permanent Part Time Dietary Aide

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Dietary Aide assists with the preparation and organization of food and beverages for resident and patient meals.  This position is responsible for preparing beverages, portioning desserts and cereals, preparing and labeling snacks, and setting up the dining rooms, guest meal room and trays for meals.  The Dietary Aide will also be responsible for serving beverages, assisting with meal service, removing and cleaning soiled dishes and appropriately storing and/or disposal of leftovers according to HACCP.  In addition, this position will assist with putting away the grocery order, ensuring par stock of the serveries, nourishment carts and room, rotating stock, and restocking the vending machines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of Grade 12 education
• Completion of, or commitment to enroll in and completion within 3 years of being hired, the Food Service Worker Training Program offered by an established college or private career college
• Experience working in a health care facility as a food handler preferred
• A current National Sanitation Certificate (Food Handlers), updated within the last two years
• The candidate will also have excellent Food Safety knowledge and practices, a working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety as it applies to health care food service and a working knowledge of therapeutic diets as well as special considerations for geriatric nutrition
• Understanding of basic principles of cleaning procedures
