Dear Community,
In partnership with Haliburton County Paramedic Services (HCPS), Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) is delighted to officially launch the Fit2Sit program effective June 10, 2024.
Fit2Sit is a provincially created and mandated program, developed over ten years ago, that formally assists in triaging and supporting patient care in a timely and equitable manner. Whether you visit the Emergency Department on your own accord, call 9-1-1 and brought to HHHS via ambulance, or have a family member bring you in, the Fit2Sit program will ensure that you can be triaged in a timely manner, treated with care promptly, and our Paramedic teams can be back on the road to serve other community members in need.
The Fit2Sit program outlines ten important criteria that when met the patient will be asked to sit in the waiting area to be seen by a physician at a time that best suits their acuity. If patients are acute, they will be seen by the care team as urgently as needed. Please see below for a complete list of criteria, as outlined by HCPS, HHHS, and the province.
Although HHHS is the last hospital in the Central East region to implement this program, we are excited to launch this program formally as the next step since leveraging these criteria to assist in triage.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
Thank you to HCPS, physicians, and the staff of HHHS for all that you do to support the health and wellbeing of our community!
Bring on Summer 2024!
My best,
Veronica Nelson
President & CEO HHHS
