Dear Community,
Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) is excited to announce that Warden Liz Danielsen has been appointed to the HHHS Board Directors.
“On behalf of the HHHS Board of Directors, I extend a warm welcome to Liz. We appreciate and value her experience, knowledge and care for our community and look forward to having her work with us.”
-Irene Odell, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Finance Chair HHHS Board
Liz Danielsen was born and raised in Burlington, Ontario but has always had strong family connections to the County of Haliburton. Danielsen has many years of experience in municipal government, starting in the Northwest Territories as Assistant Town Manager and Clerk for 12 years, and finally transitioning to a position on Town Council ultimately as their Deputy Mayor for an additional 12 years.
“I'm very pleased to join the HHHS Board and look forward to contributing to the important work the Board does to ensure the best possible healthcare for everyone in the Haliburton Highlands."
-Liz Danielsen, Board Director HHHS
After running for Council in Algonquin Highlands in 2010, Danielsen was Deputy Mayor for three consecutive terms, winning twice by acclamation. During that time, she served on County Council helping to resolve issues at both the upper and lower tiers. She has also been Warden for the County of Haliburton for the past five years. During her time on Council, she has been involved in all aspects of local government including financial stewardship, social services, emergency services, community safety, and culture as well as being a strong advocate for improved cell and broadband services. Of note, was her pivotal role in the introduction of the Physician Recruitment program which continues today.
My best,
Veronica Nelson
President & CEO HHHS
