Today, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit declared that the COVID-19 outbreak in the In-patient Department of the Haliburton Hospital is over. There were a total of 5 patient cases and 3 staff cases during the outbreak, which was declared by the HHHS Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Department on March 20, 2023.
Patients currently in isolation will remain in isolation until March 29, 2023. Regular visiting guidelines (up to 2 visitors at a time) will resume on March 30, 2023, with active screening of all visitors for symptoms of COVID-19. Admissions have resumed and enhanced cleaning remains in place.
Staff will continue to follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures in the In-patient Department, including the use of full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with those patients in isolation, mandatory masking in all patient care areas, mandatory vaccination, and screening for symptoms of COVID-19 before entry into the In-Patient Department.
