Highland Wood Long-Term Care – Haliburton

With updated facilities opening in 2000, Highland Wood provides 30 Long-Term Care beds in private and semi-private rooms, each with a bathroom, closet, and finger-tip adjustable beds.

Dr. Tina Stephenson is the Medical Director for Highland Wood. Registered nursing staff are on site 24 hours every day, while Personal Support Workers and Registered Practical Nurses provide one-on-one care to meet the needs of all residents. The Haliburton Emergency Department is located just down the hall for rapid response in emergency situations.

Highland Wood Lessons Learned and Draft Action Plan

Following the repatriation of residents to Highland Wood Long-Term Care after a roof leak in early 2019, HHHS took time to reflect deeply on the experiences of residents, family members, staff, and managers. Feedback from these individuals was compiled into a report by an external, third-party facilitator and used to inform an Action Plan.
