HHHS IS SMOKE FREE
At the October 28, 2010 meeting of the Board of Directors, the following motion was approved:
- "That HHHS resolves to become a smoke-free facility by January 2012;
- That designated smoking areas be established immediately as an interim measure;
- That the Board undertakes to lobby the local municipalities to enact a no-smoking by-law to support enforcement of the HHHS policy, and
- That efforts be undertaken immediately to communicate the Board's intention and support staff members who need assistance to quit smoking."
A great deal of thought and discussion went into the creation of this endeavour.
All buildings and property of the Haliburton Highlands Health Services are now Smoke-Free. All staff and visitors are reminded that smoking is prohibited. This includes vehicles parked on HHHS property.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit offers assistance to those trying to quit smoking.
